Our commitment

AuraMar is committed to making our website and application usable by everyone, including people who rely on screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or reduced-motion settings. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

In practice this means text contrast of at least 4.5:1 for normal text, visible focus indicators on every interactive element, descriptive alternative text on images, labelled form fields, tap targets of at least 44×44 pixels, and full keyboard operability with no keyboard traps.

AuraMar currently achieves a perfect 100 score on the Google Lighthouse accessibility audit.

Mobile and app experience

AuraMar is designed as a progressive web application (PWA) and is optimised for use on mobile devices. The app meets iOS and Android accessibility guidelines including support for Dynamic Type (text size preferences), VoiceOver on iOS, and TalkBack on Android.

Known limitations

  • Photographs uploaded by crew (safety briefing images, crew portraits, yacht logos) rely on the person uploading them for descriptive alternative text; where none is supplied, a generic description is used.
  • The live vessel tracking map is a visual component. Vessel position, speed, and heading are also presented as text alongside it, but the map itself is not operable by keyboard.
  • Exported PDF documents (trip and safety briefing exports) are not yet tagged for screen readers.
  • Some third-party embedded content, such as weather and traffic widgets, is outside our direct control and may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA.

We review these limitations regularly and work to reduce them with each release.
